(God, that “9 1/2 Weeks” reference is so old…but it was either that or a Barenaked Ladies reference, which would be old AND dorky)
Not to freak you out, but today we only have 12 more weeks left of 2023.
And maybe you don’t care! Maybe you’re like, GOOD. BEAT IT, 2023. Those 12 weeks can’t fly by fast enough!!
Personally, though, I love taking stock of what, exactly, I can accomplish in those last 3 months that will put a satisfying cap on the year.
And there are a LOT of goals you can stack in just three months! 12 weeks is enough time to not only see, but to show serious results in a new training regimen. Most college courses are only around 12 weeks long. NaNoWriMo kicks off November 1st for those who want to try to write a whole novel in one month, but if you don’t want to do it at a breakneck pace, start now, write two chapters every week, and by the time The Year of Our Lord Britney 2024 rolls around, you’ll have a SOLID first draft of a book.
And not that you have do any of this in order to be happy with your year. We know that our self-worth isn’t - or shouldn’t be - tangled up in our yearly accomplishments.
But for your girl right here, I don’t want to clink glasses of probably-cheap champagne at midnight while thinking about all the dreams I could have fulfilled for myself in the past year if I had just focused up a lil’ bit more. And I definitely don’t want to have to rewrite all of my big “New Year, New Me!!” goals all over again on the 1st, wondering if I’ll actually be able to come through for myself this year.
So I’m not going to! Instead, I’m making these last 12 weeks the most laser-focused 3 months of my life.
(And also in September I hit a big milestone in Body Adventures AND came through on a challenge to myself to finish up a writing project I had been working on steadily for the last year and half - it was basically 150 chapters long! Which sounds and was in fact insane! - so I am INTOXICATED with accomplishment and self-determination!!)
For me, I’ve got a big Body Adventures goal that I just announced last night via my Amber Lea Carter newsletter (and will talk more in depth in the Body Adventures newsletter*) that I want to gain traction on, and I’m committed to completing at least two more writing projects before we all sing Auld Lange Syne with Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper.
