I am super excited to announce that I’ve been chosen to participate in this year’s CoppaTrekwithGi, hiking 100km along the Hadrian Wall in June!
CoppaFeel! is an amazing UK charity that specifically educates young people on how to check for signs of breast cancer in the hopes of saving lives through early diagnosis. Every year, CoppaFeel! does two huge charity challenges called CoppaTrek!, where 70-120 people push themselves to their physical limits to raise awareness and charitable funds.
I’ll be hiking the Trek in honor of my sister-friend Chelsea, who was diagnosed with breast cancer around a year and a half ago and - even with many life-threatening complications - kicked its ASS. Chels was my inspiration for applying for the Trek in the first place…if she could beat cancer, then my weak butt can at least do this.
Except that I am in no way prepared for it!!! I’m currently around 120 pounds overweight and I’ve never even gone on an actual hike in my entire life. I can’t even do a full lunge!!!
I am NOT turning this down major opportunity, though (PS: you can’t just sign up for a CoppaTrek - you have to apply and then be selected out of thousands of applicants to represent the cause), and I absolutely REFUSE to fail.
The sort of hilarious part is that I had juuuust signed up for a personal training program literally the day before I found out I had made it into CoppaTrek. Thus, I was already committed to working on my fitness…CoppaTrek just sped up the need to get serious about it.
So, to keep me motived and excited about training for the Trek and my larger goal of shedding 120 pounds, I’ll be sharing my process through Body Adventures with AC!
Free subscribers of Body Adventures with AC will get a weekly newsletter about how I got here and how I’m navigating training, along with (a lot) of thoughts about untangling our relationship with our bodies and what “body as project” actually means.
Paid subscribers & Founding Members will receive that newsletter + deeper dives, along with all the behind-the-scenes deets, including-but-not-limited to video diaries, progress reports, Close Friend IG Stories, audio podcast recordings, progress photos, THE WERKS.
Founding Members will also receive some super fun surprises - shout-outs in newsletters, daily work sprints, and on social media; a Featured Member profile in the newsletters (only if you want one, though); and some super fun, FM-only gifts!
These paid subscriptions will, in turn, help me fund my training + gear + trip expenses for the Trek!
So come along if you want and let’s adventure this body thing together💜
